Veterans Project Opens Up in Omaha

New Visions Homeless Services has opened up it’s transitional living program for homeless veterans in conjunction with the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Hospital, Congressman Lee Terry, Mutual of Omaha, Access Bank, and Central States Development. We want to take time to thank each and every partner for the part that they had in making this new project such a success.

The veterans project called the Dr. Maurice J. Hart complex, will house 26 single bedroom apartments equipped with a living room, kitchenette, dining area, bedroom, and full bathroom facilities in each apartment. Also, the complex houses 14 permanent supportive housing units that are equipped with the same layout as the transitional living side.

The program consists of a 24 month 3 phase program in which homeless veterans will be rehabilitated through various means of support. Each client will receive support through case management, therapy, employment training, budgeting, drug and alcohol treatment, and volunteer work. Each case plan will be individualized to the specific need of the client and help aid in their full recovery.

Clients will also be provided two meals a day, cooked in our state of the art kitchen and dining area.

If you would like further information about our veterans program or ways that you can help the veterans in and around the Omaha / Council Bluffs Metro area please contact us at (712) 256-3940.
