MOHM’S Place is our meal site that feeds homeless and near homeless families and individuals every night from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. MOHM’S Place is an acronym that stands for Messenger’s Of Hope Ministries (MOHM).
MOHMS Place is the flag-ship entity that started the ministry to homeless and near homeless in 1994 under the direction of our founder Rev. Harry H. Wallar Sr. The ministry began by handing out sack lunches underneath overpasses and bridges to homeless men and women. After a few months of handing out sack lunches, the ministry converted a 60 passenger school bus into a full commercial kitchen that fed people under a viaduct for approximately 2 years. MOHM’S Place continued to grow and moved to a 3000 square foot building under the bridge, where they had started serving with the bus, which they occupied for 12 years.
Eventually the ministry would grow to the place that it needed to expand again and has moved to it’s present location under the same roof as our shelter and transitional living program.
MOHM’S Place serves approximately 6000 meals every month and goes through approximately 10 tons of food every month. They currently feed meals to 750 children, 600 women, and 300 families in tact. Anyone who is hungry can come and eat. Here are some key points about MOHM’S Place:
